Matthew Osborn

Hugely popular with audiences, highly respected by fellow comedians and a favourite among promoters and bookers, Matthew Osborn’s sardonic performances never disappoint.

Matthew started on the comedy circuit in 2002 and quickly went on to win the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny award. In 2003 he was named Chortle Best Newcomer and has since gone on to perform throughout the UK circuit (everywhere from Jongleurs to Banana Cabaret and Highlight to the Comedy Café). He’s played to audiences in the Riviera, Monaco, Belgium and Slovenia and has supported Harry Hill and Al Murray on tour.

In 2005 Matthew took a hiatus from stand-up to concentrate on his writing in which time he developed a number of plays, sitcoms and sketch ideas as well as writing his first book, Leisure. Matthew now combines touring the comedy circuit with writing and recently wrote the black comedy Cul-de-Sac which appeared at the Pleasance Theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe 2011 and was co-produced by the Comedians’ Theatre Company. Cul-de-Sac received huge critical acclaim from the press and audiences- selling out almost every day. It went on to have a successful run at Theatre 503 in London in 2012.

Matthew is also enjoying continued success on the live scene- he was named the 2009 English Comedian of the Year and has appeared as a guest on Claudia Winkleman’s Arts Show (BBC Radio 2), on the newspaper review on Sky News and performing on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3).

Matthew Osborn is a comic on the up with an ever growing presence on the UK comedy circuit as well as more regular appearances on TV and radio. He is making a name for himself on the corporate circuit and has been asked to make a number of return appearances. He performed his one man play Shopping Centre in Edinburgh in 2012 to critical acclaim.

“The gags themselves are expertly crafted, perfectly timed and outrageously funny” Chortle

“Osborn’s script is as crisp and polished as you might expect if you know his stand-up” ★★★★ Chortle (for Cul-de-Sac)

“If George Orwell had been around to write an episode of Terry And June, he might well have turned in something like this three-hander by Matthew Osborn” ★★★★ The Scotsman

“Close to impeccable- you chortle even as you wince”
★★★★ The Times
