Saskia Preston
Saskia Preston, writer for BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack and BBC Radio 4 The News Quiz and more recently, The Now Show, is making a name for herself as an act who delivers up offbeat one liners and observations in a unique and playful style, and as a young, gay comedian, she has a interesting perspective on life.
A finalist in the Max Turner Comedy Award, Funny Women Award, Comedy Knights Fresh Comedian and Laughing Horse New Comedian of the Year Final. Saskia was also shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award 2013 broadcast on BBC Radio 4 extra.
As well as gigging around the UK, and recently overseas in Norway, Saskia has performed at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival every year since 2013 where she’s shared mixed bills and hosting her own compilation shows. Last summer, Saskia starred in the prestigious AAA Stand-Up Late show at The Pleasance and this coming summer she will be presenting her characteristic quick wit and hilarious delivery for her debut solo show.
Alongside this, Saskia has been a regular writer for The News Quiz, The Now Show, and Newsjack.
Born in the UK, Saskia spent her childhood in Hong Kong and Portugal before returning to Britain to study English at the University of St Andrews. Previous to starting comedy, Saskia had a career in advertising and journalism and has written for, among others, The Guardian and The Financial Times.
She had a great run at Edinburgh Fringe 2019 with her debut solo show "Ninety-Five" which was full of quick wit and hilarious delivery.
